How it Works

Book Online Now - Real Time Availability

  1. Choose a SELF-GUIDED EBIKE RENTAL or a GUIDED TOUR option
  2. Self-guided rentals select a start location: Inside Acadia at Hulls Cove Visitor Center or Acadia Ebike Adventure Shop
  3. Select your DATE and START TIME
  4. Enter the TOTAL NUMBER of Ebikes
  5. Provide each rider’s HEIGHT to ensure proper bike fit
  6. Rental damage protection is required and added - $5 per bike
  7. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email and a comprehensive rental guide
  8. Please note your rental start location.

Day of Rental
  • Acadia National Park Pass

    • Acadia National Park Pass is required for entry to the carriage trails. Recommend purchasing prior to arrival at one of the Acadia visitor centers or online at Acadia Park Pass Online.
    • Purchase online or prior to the start of your rental. The visitor center opens at 8:30 AM.
    • One pass needed per vehicle. You do not need to purchase a separate bicycle pass if you have a vehicle park pass, annual park pass or senior park pass.

  • Waiver and Acknowledgement of Risk

    • Each rider will review and sign the acknowledgement of risk prior to rental. A link to the waiver will be sent to your email after booking. Have each rider sign online waiver.
    • If unable to print or access the waiver online, printed copies of the waiver for review and signature will be available the morning of rental.
    • Parents review and sign the Acknowledgement of Risk for minors under the age of 18.
  • Rentals Starting From Hulls Cove Visitor Center

    • Full day Ebike rentals offered each morning from Hulls Cove Visitor Center inside Acadia National Park at the Carriage Road entrance.
    • Start Times: 8:00 AM • 8:30 AM • 9:00 AM
    • Arrive 15 minutes before your selected start time for bike fitting and prompt start of Ebike orientation.
    • Each departure time is reserved in advance and has a limited number of riders to ensure a safe and efficient check-in experience.
    • All guests must participate in a brief group orientation before departing. Once orientation is complete, you'll explore the Carriage Roads independently at your own pace.
    • We are required to depart the Hulls Cove Visitor Center by 9:15 AM.
    • If you are unable to arrive in time for your scheduled check-in and orientation, your reservation will be transferred to our shop for a 10:00 AM departure for your full 6-hour rental.
  • Hull's Cove Visitor Center

    • Located at 25 Visitor Center Rd, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
    • Parking is free at the visitor center with your ANP vehicle pass.
    • The Island Explorer bus has multiple routes to the Visitor Center. Check routes and timetables on the Island Explorer website.
    • Acadia National Park Visitor center and restrooms open at 8:30 AM. No food or drinks are sold in the Visitor Center.
  • Rentals and Tours From Acadia Ebike Adventure

    • Acadia Ebike Adventure is located at 1 Dewey Street, Hulls Cove, 04609
    • Free on-site parking. with additional free public parking nearby if needed.
    • Check-in with our staff for your Ebike fitting, safety orientation and Ride with GPS route review.
    • Our staff will escort, by Ebike, the short distance to the Acadia Carriage Road entrance. Your Ebike rental or guided tour begins!
    • Walk-ins welcome from 10 AM to 2 PM - Based on Availability
    Full-Day Rentals: Check in anytime between 10:00 AM–11:30 AM for your 6-hour rental.

    Guided Tours: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour for check-in, bike fitting, and orientation before departing with your guide.
  • Orientation

    • A brief orientation for safety and operation of Ebike is provided with fitting of helmet and bike
    • Watch our online Ebike orientation from our website prior to your rental to become familiar with our Ebikes.
    • Your adventure begins!
  • Carriage Road Maps

    • We will provide a detailed map with curated routes highlighting the best of the Carriage Roads.
    • Our GPS map can be downloaded for use on the Carriage Roads. Bar Code and info on the app Ride with GPS provided in email sent day prior to your ride. We will have instructions on how to access the app and GPS routes on day of rental.
    • GPS map has our recommended routes, provides verbal turn by turn instructions highlighting scenic stops and trail conditions. Designed for use without cell service.
    • Our Carriage Road routes cover 18 - 26 miles along the Tri-Lakes Loop or the Around the Mountain Loop.
  • Rental Return

    • A full-day e-bike rental includes 6 hours of riding, plus a 30-minute grace period as part of our No-Stress Return Policy.
    • Please return your e-bike to the same location where your rental began—either the Hulls Cove Visitor Center or our shop.
    • All shop rentals must be returned no later than 6:00 PM.

Where can I rent an e-bike to ride the Carriage Roads in Acadia National Park?

Acadia Ebike Adventure offers e-bike rentals with convenient access to Acadia National Park’s Carriage Roads. Guests can choose rental options that begin inside Acadia National Park at Hulls Cove Visitor Center or from our nearby Hulls Cove location.

Are e-bikes allowed on the Carriage Roads in Acadia National Park?

Yes. Class 1 e-bikes are permitted on designated Carriage Roads where traditional bicycles are allowed. Our rental fleet consists of Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes suitable for exploring Acadia’s Carriage Roads.

Can I rent an e-bike inside Acadia National Park?

Acadia Ebike Adventure offers scheduled e-bike pickup at Hulls Cove Visitor Center, providing direct access to the Carriage Roads without needing to bike alongside vehicle traffic to enter the park.

Do you offer guided e-bike tours of Acadia National Park?

Yes. We offer guided e-bike tours on Acadia National Park’s Carriage Roads led by local guides. Tours combine scenic riding with stops at notable locations and stories about Acadia, its history, and the Carriage Road system.

How long does it take to bike the Acadia Carriage Roads?

It depends on your route and pace. Many guests ride approximately 15–25 miles during a day of exploring, allowing time for scenic stops, photos, and destinations such as Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, Witch Hole Pond, and Bubble Pond.

Do I need experience to ride an e-bike in Acadia?

You should be comfortable and proficient riding a traditional bicycle. Before departure, our team provides an e-bike orientation, bike fitting, and safety information so you understand how to operate the pedal-assist system before entering the Carriage Roads.

Should I reserve an e-bike in Acadia National Park in advance?

Advance reservations are recommended, particularly during summer and fall foliage season. E-bike availability can become limited during popular travel dates in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.

Are there any restrictions or limits? (Age, height, weight)
  • You must be 14 years or older to rent Electric bike. Under 18 riders must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • The Ebike can accommodate heights between 5' to 6’7. You must be 5 feet and be able to reach ground with feet to safely operate Ebike.
  • There is a recommended max weight of 280 lbs. A person greater than 240 lbs will experience decreased battery capacity with less range. It is the riders responsibility to monitor Battery Life during rental and contact us for as replacement battery along the route if needed.
  • You need to exhibit safe operation and proficiency riding Ebike during orientation. We will have to cancel your reservation if you are not able to safely operate the Ebike for a full refund.
  • You must have the mobility needed to step through the Ebike without assistance and balance the bike while standing.
  • You must be able to ride a bike prior to day of rental.
  • Helmets are mandatory per the National Park Service rules. You must have helmet on prior to Ebike orientation.
Cancellation and Weather Policy / Altering your reservation
  • Reservations may be cancelled up to 24 hours before rental. We will issue a refund to credit card on file.
  • Contact us to change or cancel your reservation up to 24 hours before your rental. Rebooking rental is based on availability.
  • For cancellations, please send an email to acadiaebikeadventure@gmail.com. Include the rental date, name of reservation and number of bikes to be cancelled.
  • If there is rain or poor road conditions the morning of rental we will cancel and offer a full refund. We will attempt to reschedule based on availability. If there is a better window of weather opportunity, we may suggest alternate start times.
  • We will make every effort to notify you the evening before your rental by text, email or phone call for weather cancellations or a change in start time due to weather.
Do we have trailers to attach to our Ebikes for children or pets?

We no longer offer the Burley Trailer for children or have attachments for children or pets for our Ebikes.
